Medtech is pleased to make available for download the latest Medtech32 Release – Version 22.7 Build 5383.

We recently advised of a potential security vulnerability due to the failing of encryption of the communication between the Medtech32 NES module and the Medtech NES Web Application.

  • Auto Recalls were not applying to new patients when added to the Patient Register without an Ethnicity selected

Medtech32 Version 20.11 Build 4345 (June 2014)

Within the 20.11 upgrade a change was made to the printing of prescriptions to ensure there is a Mitte value associated to the medication before printing the prescription. It has been brought to our attention that this has caused frustration for Providers who utilise Non-Granular prescribing.

This change was introduced to support the requirements of electronic Prescribing which is currently in trial with some Medtech practices.

If you wish to allow printing of a prescription without Mitte please run this update

Note: The practice must be on Version 20.11 Build 4341 before running this patch update

If however this change has had minimal impact and you wish to retain this check for Mitte, this update is not necessary.

Medtech released Version 20.8 Build 4074 on 3 October 2013.  Subsequent to this, some of our practices reported the following two issues, which have been corrected in this patch update available now (Version 20.8 Build 4087):

  1. Anomalies in the results presented when searching for READ codes in classifications and ACC45.
  2. Degraded performance when working with invoices.  This was caused by unpredictable Interbase query behaviour at some sites.

In addition, some sites experienced issues with the daily record displaying a blank yellow space when opening certain consultation notes that are particularly long and do not fit into Module4Clinical4Patient Manager4 [Daily Record Tab] (F6 key).  This issue is not resolved in this patch update, but will be resolved shortly.  In the meantime, note that this issue will not occur when the daily record is opened as a standalone screen in Module4Clinical4Daily Record (Shift + F12 keys).

Medtech32 Version 20.8 Build 4005 (July 2013)

An issue has been identified in Medtech32 V20.8 Build 3996, namely that additional validation warning messages are displayed when saving the Patient Register.

The purpose of this message is to ensure that geocoding information that is possibly obsolete is not retained for patients whose addresses have changed.

However, in Medtech32 V20.8 Build 3996, this message is also displayed when the patient’s address has in fact been validated through eSAM, but other fields on the Patient Register have changed.  In other words, the message is displayed when it is not relevant, requiring the user to re-validate the patient’s address, or to remove the patient’s geocoding information.

This issue has now been corrected in this update (Build 4005).

This update only applies to an existing installation of Medtech32 Version 20.8 Build 3996.  Refer to the installation instructions of Build 3996 (also available on this web page) for detailed guidance on how to upgrade to Build 3996, after which this update can be applied.

Please refer to the release notes and installation instructions for more information.

This update does not require a technician to run, but please ensure that all pre-requisites outlined in the installation instructions are met before attempting the installation.

Updated eSAM Release - Medtech32 Version 20.8 Build 3996 (July 2013)

Medtech32 Version 20.8 Build 3996 is now available for download and installation.  This is an update to the general eSAM release that was published on 19 June 2013 (Build 3970) and also replaces that release.

  • A number of issues have been resolved (please refer to the release notes for more information):
  • A user previously required clinical access rights to access the eSAM search screen.
  • The Patient Register “Res/Building” field was previously cleared when a patient’s address was updated via eSAM.
  • The installation procedure has been amended to reduce the likelihood of Interbase SQL errors occurring in some customer environments.
  • As a result of Geostan not being accessible after 30 June 2013, some cleanups have been done in the application.

Medtech can also advise that the Ministry of Health has resolved a number of address search issues in their web services on 9 July 2013 (caused by a reconfiguration of their network infrastructure on 2 July 2013).  For a week, it was not possible to search for addresses containing:

  • A slash (“/”) after flat- and unit numbers, for example “1/670 Beach Road”.
  • An apostrophe, for example “O’Brien Street”.

This release can be installed in one of two ways, depending whether the practice has previously installed the general eSAM release of 19 June 2013 (Version 20.8 Build 3970):

  1. If the practice is already on Version 20.8 Build 3970, a simplified installation that merely replaces the main application EXE and runs a SQL script can be done. This option does not require a technician to run and can be downloaded here. Immunisation Subsidy Increase (June 2013)

The Ministry of Health has advised that all immunisation subsidies are increasing from 1 July 2013.

This update will set the subsidy for all vaccines to $22.53 (including GST), with an effective date of 1 July 2013.

All existing immunisation claims, finalised and un-finalised, created from 1 July 2013 onwards, will automatically be updated to the new subsidy amount of $22.53, where applicable. This caters for the scenario that you may not have been able to update your system before 1 July 2013.

Please ensure that you have downloaded and read the Release Notes and Installation Instructions provided for this update.

This update does not require a technician to run, but it must be run on the Medtech32 server. Users can remain logged in to Medtech32 while this update is being run, but they must log out of the application and log in again for the changes to take effect.

V20.8 Medtech Services Update (June 2013)

An update to the Medtech Services in Medtech32 V20.8 is available.

This update introduces three changes:

  • A change to the configuration of the Medtech Services, as far as the GP2GP functionality is concerned.
  • A change to the error messages that are displayed to the user during GP2GP patient import/export operations, when the GP2GP service is unavailable.
  • An improvement to the fault tolerance during service startup.

If you choose to install this update, you need to be on Version 20.8 Build 38503870 or 3919.

Please ensure that you have downloaded and read the Release Notes and Installation Instructions provided for this update.

It is not essential for this update to be run by a Medtech Certified Engineer, but it is recommended in more complex environments.

South Canterbury DHB (SCDHB) Screening Mapping Utility (May 2013)

Medlab South will transition to a new Laboratory Information System (LIS) on 27 May 2013. The impact of the new LIS is that Lab Result Codes returned by Medlab South will be different from the current Lab Result Codes used by the old LIS. In many cases the Test Names will also be slightly different.

In order to ensure consistency in the Medtech32 Screening Terms, when providers file Inbox Results for patients, existing Inbox Screening Terms mapped to the old LIS Test Result Codes will need to be re-mapped to the corresponding new LIS Test Result codes. This is required to chart results received from the old LIS, together with results from the new LIS.

Practices can choose to re-map their Inbox Screening Terms manually, or by using this mapping utility which is now available for download and installation.

Northern DHBs Primary Care CVD Risk Screening Mapping Utility (May 2013)

Various Secondary Care-based CVD Risk Screening programmes within the Auckland and Northern regions are currently underway, each at a different stage of implementation. The DHBs are working directly with the PHOs and they will coordinate with practices before the programmes start. Ideally all practices within these areas will apply this update before the DHB starts to send out CVD Risk Screening values to practices.

More information on these screening programmes can be obtained from Enigma on 0800 773 342.

This update can be run in all involved practices within the Auckland and Northern regions, since it simply adds a mapping from the inbox to the screening term (CVR) to push the external CVD Risk Screening into a meaningful place within the patient’s primary care record.

Note that this update is exactly the same as what was provided to the Waitemata DHB in October 2012 - refer to the downloadWDHB Primary Care CVD Risk Screening Mapping Utility (October 2012) below. Waitemata practices do not have to apply this update again, but no harm will come if they do.

This update does not require a technician to run, but it must be run on the Medtech32 server. Users can remain logged into Medtech32 whilst this update is being run, but they must log out of Medtech32 and log in again for the changes to take effect.

This update should be installed by all practices currently on Version 20.8 Build 3850 or 3870.

Please ensure that you have downloaded and read the Release Notes and Installation Instructions provided for this update.

Medtech32 Licence Expiry Update (February 2013)

This update was originally published on Friday 15 February 2013, but unfortunately had to be withdrawn on Monday 18 February 2013 due to an unforeseen environmental issue encountered at some sites.

Medtech is pleased to announce that the issue has been resolved and that the update is available for download again.

Continuing with Medtech’s efforts to improve customer experience, the need for periodically renewing your Medtech32 product licence has been removed. Instead, licences will be renewed annually by means of a customer-downloadable update such as this.

This update will automatically renew your Medtech32 licence to 31 March 2014, irrespective of your current expiry date.

During February 2014, another update will be made available for the automatic renewal for another year.

Please ensure that you have downloaded and read the Release Notes and Installation Instructions provided for this update. Note that this update does not require a technician to run.

Funded Access to dTap Vaccine for Pregnant Women and Maternity Claiming Update (January 2013)

PHARMAC has amended access to the combination diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus vaccine (dTap, under the brand name Boostrix) from 1 January 2013. Pregnant women (between gestational weeks 28 and 38), will have access to funded Boostrix during the current pertussis epidemic.

This update will amend the Medtech32 configuration in order to cater for these immunisations and the associated claims. Note that previous versions of this update loaded an incorrect subsidy value of $21.99, instead of $22.31. This is now corrected, and existing claims are also adjusted by this update.

In addition, this update will also correct a slight discrepancy in the amounts for maternity claims contained in messages submitted to HealthPAC. This issue would not have been visible to Medtech users, since the correct amounts are reflected in the Medtech application and the correct amounts are paid by HealthPAC.

Please ensure that you have downloaded and read the Release Notes and Installation Instructions provided for this update.
