Immunisation Schedule Changes (July 2017) – Additional Details

The Immunisation Schedule Changes for July 2017 were released as part of Medtech Evolution General Practice Version 1.9 Build 1.9.0.15.

Following the new Medtech Evolution General Practice release, there have been a number of queries to the Medtech Support Desk relating to the availability of the Rotavirus Monovalent and Varicella vaccines and to the administration of existing stocks of the Rotavirus Pentavalent vaccine under the new 2017 Immunisation Schedule.

Medtech Evolution General Practice Version 1.9 Build 1.9.0.102 (October 2017)

Medtech is pleased to make available for download the latest Medtech Evolution General Practice release – Version 1.9 Build 1.9.0.102 – Patient Experience Survey (PES) Changes

The significant new features and enhancements in this release include:

  • Changes to collection and upload of Patient Contact Details to Ministry of Health’s (MoH’s) Patient Preference system as part of Patient Experience Survey (PES).
  • Enhancements to Notification Inbox – Inclusion of Bulk Filing and Cancelling of future Appointments and Recalls.
  • Utility to identify patient enrolments that were ended in Medtech Evolution due to NES Expiry Notifications.

As part of this release a number of other issues have been resolved, and additional enhancements have also been included.

Medtech Evolution General Practice PMS and Advanced Forms License Renewals (September 2017)

This update extends the license expiry dates for both the Medtech Evolution General Practice PMS and Medtech Evolution Advanced Forms to 30 September 2018.

This update is critical to ensure continued use of the PMS and Advanced Forms beyond September 2017.

Maternity Subsidy Updates (August 2017)

The Ministry of Health has advised Medtech that there are further changes to the Maternity Subsidies for services provided by Lead Maternity Carers (LMCs).

The latest subsidy update now involves the following two changes:

Schedule 1A involves a 2.5% subsidy increase (effective from 1 July 2016) for the remaining 16 services provided by LMCs (these were not increased by Ministry of Health in the previous update).

Schedule 1B involves a further 6% subsidy increase (on top of 2.5% increase) effective from 1 July 2017; this has been applied to all 29 services provided by LMCs.

Immunisation Subsidy Adjustment (July 2017)

The Medtech Evolution General Practice Immunisation Subsidy Updates for 1 July 2017 was rounding down for the GST Inclusive rates.

The Immunisation Subsidy Adjustment update performs two functions:

  1. Increases all Immunisation subsidies from $23.58 to the rounded up rate of $23.59.
  2. All Immunisation claims generated from 1 July 2017 will be updated to ensure payments received are correctly reconciled.

The Ministry of Health has advised that immunisation administration subsidies for both childhood and influenza immunisations have increased from $23.16 to $23.58 from 1 July 2017.

This update will set the subsidy for all subsidised vaccines to $23.58 (including GST), with an effective date of 1 July 2017.

Medtech Evolution General Practice Version 1.9 Build 1.9.0.15 (June 2017)

Medtech is pleased to make available for download the latest Medtech Evolution General Practice release – Version 1.9 Build 1.9.0.15 – 2017 Childhood Immunisation Schedule

The significant new features and enhancements in this release include:

  • Creation of a new Childhood Immunisation Schedule for 2017.
  • Creation of new Catch-Up Schedules for 2017.
  • Creation of a new Baby of Hepatitis B Mother Schedule for 2017.
  • Pneumococcal 10-valent protein conjugate vaccine (PCV10) has replaced the pneumococcal 13-valent protein conjugate vaccine (PCV13) in the Childhood Immunisation Schedule for 2017.
  • Rotavirus monovalent vaccine has replaced the Rotavirus pentavalent vaccine. This new vaccine must be given at 6 weeks and 3 months only; a third vaccination at 5 months is no longer required.
  • Varicella vaccine has been added to the Childhood Immunisation Schedule for 2017, with a single dose to be given at 15 months.
  • A standalone Varicella vaccine has been included to be given at 11 years of age, if the patient has never had a Varicella infection or has not previously received the Varicella vaccine.
  • HPV9 vaccines have been introduced under the Childhood Immunisation Schedule for 2017.
  • New High Risk vaccines have been created for the following: PCV13, Hib, Meningococcal B, Hepatitis B (Paed/Adol), Hepatitis B (Adult).
  • The interval between the two 23 PPV vaccine doses have been increased from 3 years to 5 years.
  • Ensuring that all alternative vaccines to Tdap-11 years are being sent to NIR.

Please Note: the children who are due or overdue for their 6W, 3M, 5M or 15M immunisations (under the Childhood Immunisation Schedule 2014) on or after 1 July 2017 will be transferred to the new Childhood Immunisation Schedule for 2017.

There will be a Transition Utility available in the Medtech Evolution General Practice Version 1.9 Build 1.9.0.15, after the installation of this build, the transition utility will be triggered when the first user at the practice logs into the Medtech Evolution on or after 1 July 2017.

Medtech Evolution General Practice Version 1.8 Build 1.8.0.112 (May 2017)

Medtech is pleased to make available for download the latest Medtech Evolution General Practice Version 1.8 release – Version 1.8 Build 1.8.0.112.

The significant new features and enhancements in this release include:

  • Ability to print Future Appointments using right-click menu in Appointment Book.
  • SNOMED-CT terms column can be now added to the Patient Classifications grid view.
  • Two tabs have been incorporated in the Data Refresh window to allow a user to choose to manually or automatically generate a report.
  • ‘Down Arrow’ button has been added to the Provider Inbox message screen to allow for a patient on the palette to be matched with an inbox message with a “PATIENT NOT MATCHED” status.
  • Visual Health Solutions Body Map integration is now available for use.

The potential security vulnerability identified in Version 1.7 due to the failing of encryption of the communication between the Medtech Evolution NES module and the Medtech NES Web Application has been resolved in the Medtech Evolution Version 1.8 release.

The release also includes NES and NZePS changes.

Medtech Evolution General Practice Version 1.7 Build 1.7.0.71

Medtech is pleased to make available for download the latest Medtech Evolution General Practice Release – Version 1.7 Build 1.7.0.71.

We recently advised of a potential security vulnerability due to the failing of encryption of the communication between the Medtech Evolution NES module and the Medtech NES Web Application.

This release addresses the above issue to allow NES reactivation in your practice.

Follow the steps outlined in the Reactivating the NES Module in Medtech Evolution document to reactivate the NES Service within your practice once you have installed this patch.

Other resolved issues in this release include:

  • When activating NES in the Medtech Evolution PMS by entering the NES Username the system was allowing spaces before or after the Username
  • Auto Recalls were not applying to new patients when added to the Patient Register without an Ethnicity selected

NEW: Inbox Screening Mapping Utility for HbA1c Results within the Northland and Auckland DHBs (April 2017)

Inbox Screening Mapping Utility for Wellington/Hutt/Wairarapa Regions (February 2017)

Medtech is pleased to make available a utility to assist Wellington Southern Community Laboratories (WSCL) to update laboratory codes for the Wellington, Hutt and Wairarapa Regions.

From 23 February 2017 in the Wairarapa Region and from 25 February 2017 in the Wellington and Hutt Regions, WSCL will be sending results with new test result codes. In order to ensure consistency in the Screening Terms in Medtech32 when providers file Inbox results for patients, existing Inbox Screening Terms mapped to the old codes need to be re-mapped to the corresponding new Test Result codes.

The Inbox Screening Mapping Utility program developed by Medtech will automatically map the old WSCL Inbox Screening Terms to the corresponding new WSCL Subject and Result Codes.

ACC Subsidy Updates (1 December 2016)

ACC has advised that there is an increase of 2.22% to all the amounts ACC is liable to pay, or contribute towards treatment, under the Cost of Treatment Regulations (CoTR). These changes will take effect on 1 December 2016.

The proposed change will apply to:

  • Radiologists
  • Medical practitioners
  • Nurses
  • Nurse practitioners
  • Specialists
  • Specified treatment providers:
    • Acupuncturists
    • Chiropractors
    • Occupational Therapists
    • Osteopaths
    • Physiotherapists
    • Podiatrists
    • Speech Therapists

In addition, ACC has advised that new service item codes for physiotherapy following ACC-funded surgery (acute and elective surgery) are being introduced on 1 December 2016. Physiotherapists will not have to apply for further treatment via the post-surgery phone approval or the ACC32 process before commencing post-surgery treatment.

The new codes on the Physiotherapy Services Contract are PT11 (Initial post-surgery consult – limit of 1) and PT12 (Follow-up post-surgery consult – limit of 15 regardless of Read Code). The new code for post-surgery physiotherapy under the Cost of Treatment Regulations is PHY7. This has a limit of 16 treatments, regardless of Read Code.

This update will install these subsidy amendments in Medtech Evolution and can be run any time prior to 1 December 2016. Please ensure that you have downloaded and read the Release Notes and Installation Instructions provided for this update.

ACC Subsidy Updates (1 July 2016)

ACC has announced that Accident & Medical Clinic Services will expire after 30 June 2016. From 1 July 2016 these services will be replaced by Urgent Care Clinic Services. The new Urgent Care Clinic Services, the Service Item Codes and Descriptions, and the relevant Subsidies are now available.

ACC has advised that there is a 0.92% increase for existing service items and new service items for Medical Case Reviews and Single Discipline Assessments. This increase is effective from 1 July 2016.

In addition, there has been an update to the Rural Primary Healthcare RP07 subsidy amount.

This update will install these subsidy amendments in Medtech Evolution. Please ensure that you have downloaded and read the Release Notes and Installation Instructions provided for this update.
