Medtech’s new Clinical Audit Tool (CAT) can assist GPs and healthcare providers in leading a shift from reactive patient care to proactive population based patient care by quickly and simply analyzing large volumes of patient data according to a variety of filters provided.  It assists with reporting to the PHO, and enables the practice to gain a deeper understanding of their patient population i.e. disease profiles, to enhance patient management.

The CAT tool is fully integrated with our Medtech32 practice management system and helps in provision of improved data quality and efficient patient record management by identifying incomplete patient records and analyzing, and evaluating, the quality of care across the patient population.

The information obtained from Clinical Audit Tool can be used in a variety of ways for example analyzing the demographics of the patient population, monitoring chronic diseases among patient population (i.e. diabetes, CHD), and for targeting specific areas for clinical improvement of patient care.

It can also be used to manage performance based funding by meeting criteria based on Government specified statistical data collection initiatives like Clinical Performance Indicators (CPI) to improve practice claiming.

CAT features include:

• Real Time system for data capturing: The CAT extracts “Real Time Data” from the PMS database unlike the “Batch System” used by other CAT tools in the market.
• Action Functionality: Ability to action on the results or data list generated by the CAT tool - individuals or a group of patients can be sent recalls, reminder letters and alert messages.
• Richer GUI Functionality: The browser based CAT has a richer graphic user interface with statistical input of results provided in eye-catching bar graphs and pie charts.
• Extensive Criteria Filters: Filters for data analysis been incorporated to enable patient data collection as follows:
  - Patient demographics
  - Screening items
  - Commonly used medications’
  - Chronic and practice population prevalent diseases
  - Immunisations
  - Advanced filters to enable further drill down
• Advanced Reporting Capabilities: CAT can generate reports for various statistical data collection directives based on criteria and indicators given by government and divisional agencies, PHOs etc.
• Healthstat Integration: Compare your practice population with others in the PHO.
• Data Export Utility: Utility to export patient list data into an Excel or Word document for convenient storing process and to send the data to other entities.
