What’s happening with the Version 18 release…

Medtech32’s Version 18 is now on general release to all current Medtech practices. A staggered release will be implemented for Version 18, with the first practices already starting to receive CDs from late March.

Release notes are currently available on our website detailing all the changes and enhancements that you can expect to see in Medtech32 after installation.  All additional documentation relating to the upgrade and Version 18 Practice Notifications can also be located on the website alongside the release notes.

We recommend that all users read the accompanying Version 18 documentation as it contains valuable information relating to the upgrade process and/or down time of your network.  Please ensure the technician performing your practice upgrade has read all the necessary documents.

Medtech recommends that all Medtech Upgrade and Database back-up and restore processes should be performed by a Medtech Certified Technician or your Practice Technician.  For a list of Medtech Certified Technicians please click here.

Specific recommendations for the Version 18 upgrade:

  • Ensure ALL Briefcasing laptops with outstanding Briefcased data MUST be checked-in prior to running the update.
  • Ensure a SUCCESSFUL Interbase back up and restore has been performed on ALL databases.
  • Ensure ALL users (including remote users) have logged out of Medtech32 and ALL scheduled utilities, backup or maintenance tasks that require access to the databases have been stopped.  This includes the NIR Directory Monitor Utiltity, Medtech Scheduler, and ACC Directory Monitor Utility.
  • Only run the upgrade when your site is not required to be up and running in a short amount of time.  It is recommended to run the upgrade after hours or at the weekend when you have adequate time to complete the upgrade.
