Over the past 72 hours, a major Ransomware/Malware attack has been propagating across the world.
Medtech is notifying all customers that to protect your systems you must ensure that you have run and patched your Microsoft Windows Operating Systems.
This is critical for those customers using Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 and above.
Medtech advises that all of our systems have been updated and that Medtech Cloud customers are not affected and do not need to take any action.
The key actions they highlighted to mitigate against risk of attack are:
- Prevent the propagation between any affected networks.
- Ensure that a critical Microsoft security update has been applied. This update was released in March by Microsoft.
- Users should not open suspicious/unknown email.
- Prevent ransomware from gaining access into organisations (e.g. blocking of international emails).
We would recommend that you do not use your system until after the Microsoft security patch has been applied. Please contact your IT technician for support in applying the security patch from Microsoft.
